This plan is designed to reduce the amount of histamine you are consuming through your diet. Histamine is important in the body for immune response, bowel function and also neurotransmitters. Histamine is released in the body in response to injury, allergy & inflammation – we need it, just not too much of it!
In some people the mast cells responsible for histamine release are highly sensitive and produce higher levels of histamine. High circulating levels of histamine then cause reactions & symptoms. By eating a diet low in histamine producing foods, we can help to lower the levels of circulating histamine and aid in symptom reduction.
